The word Giclee, pronounced 'Zhee-clay', is derived from the French
language and means "to spray". A Giclee is a fine
art print produced on high quality acid-free
canvas.
The holes that the ink sprays through from the giclee cylinder are one tenth the diameter of a human hair!
The colors are filled in so densely that there
are no multi-colored dots on the finished canvas that can
be seen through a high-powered magnifying glass,
as are seen on even high quality lithographic
prints.
Giclees are vibrant with color and look just like
the original painting, using over 6 colored inks
as opposed to 4 used in lithographic prints. They
will last for 200 years with proper handling and
of course, protection from direct sunlight.
A Giclee is the highest quality print that can be
produced with today's technology to best
replicate the integrity of the original art. They
are printed digitally where the artist can
control the quality at a much higher level than
any other print method.
Krishna-Lila Press Giclees are signed and
numbered by the artist who keeps the edition very
limited usually from 250 to 500 giclees (never to
be re-produced in this format again), thus the
meaning of "Limited" editions.
The "Vision Over the Yamuna", and "Vrindavan Sky"
are only sold as giclees. They are both
20" Long X 14" High on canvas, with extra margin for stretching. The Limited edition is 500,
The price for either is $85 US each.
Recently added to this giclee list is "The Primordial FLute Player".....at the same size and price.
